The world is a fucked up place

There's a lot of beauty all around us, but the world is a fucked up place nonetheless.
Mankind is ruining the planet and destroying its inhabitants at a record rate, and there seems to be nothing we can do to stop it. Global warming (which is not a hoax, by the way), wars, terrorism, violence, cruelty, indifference, crime, pollution, overpopulation, malnourishment, obesity, killing for sport, economical issues, diseases, politics,...

We're so fucked up. How did we ever manage to get this far in the first place? How have we not already wiped each other out?
What if we ever manage to colonize another planet? Is everything going to start all over again? If so, what's even the point in looking for planets to colonize if we're just going to destroy those as well, while we continue to destroy ourselves?

There are a lot of good people on this planet. But there are a lot of selfish assholes as well who will do anything to gain an advantage over others.
